Evolution of Frank's

After acquiring Frank’s Chop House in July 2012, veteran restaurateur Michael Shine and his partner (and son) Chris reimagined one of Houston’s classic restaurants as “Frank’s Americana Revival & White Star Bar,” now beloved by families and foodies for its comforting fare and welcoming atmosphere.

Since then, Frank’s has won multiple awards for items you’ll find on our menu daily and continues serving an even tastier version of the legendary Chicken Fried Steak, along with a wide selection of comforting regional favorites and dishes influenced by classic and modern American cuisine – always perfectly prepared by our culinary team.

At Frank’s, the Shine family blends a refined but comfortable atmosphere, mid-century décor, and a service style that is inspired by the great neighborhood dining institutions of the United States. Truly a family-run restaurant, Michael, Chris, and Michael’s youngest son, Chef Colin, have put the Shine family mark on Frank’s Americana Revival & White Star Bar. At any service, you’ll find one of the Shine family in this River Oaks neighborhood establishment, located near the corner of Weslayan and Westheimer. Come on by to see us!

Who is Frank?

Who Is Frank?

Well, actually there are two Franks, both members of the now very large Shine Clan worldwide. The restaurant name and brand are a loving "nod" to both of them -- Michael's great-grandfather Francis (Frank) Shine, the patriarch of the Limerick County, Ireland Clan and Frank ("Father Frank") Shine, a beloved Uncle, a very special personality and a man of the cloth. Frances sent two of his sons, Tom and Michael, to America in the early 19th century, and the American Shines were born -- living, loving, and prospering in both the Kansas City and Dallas metro areas. More on all of that later!
